How to pick the right faucet for your kitchen

Did you know that Americans spend an average of 37 minutes a day preparing food, serving, and cleaning up? That’s a lot of time in the kitchen which is why it’s so important that you truly enjoy your space! Picking the right faucet for your kitchen, can help you do just that. Here are a few things to consider when deciding which faucet to choose.

SIZE OF THE FAUCET

Faucets are not a “one size fits all”. The size of your faucet should be proportionate to the size of your sink. If the faucet is too small, you may have trouble using it to wash larger items such as big pots and pans since they won’t fit comfortably underneath. On the other hand, if the faucet is too big, then you may end up splashing yourself every time you wash your hands or rinse the dishes. Not to mention, the faucet will overpower the sink.

REACH OF THE FAUCET

This factor is most commonly overlooked! So how far out should your faucet be? We recommend that the faucet should extend out at least seven inches from the back of the sink so you you’re able to wash your hands without the interference of the sink. If your countertop is 24 inches deep, that would put the spout about 11 inches from the wall. The reach of the faucet for a kitchen sink is the extent of the curve of the spout. Measure the reach carefully because you do not want the water to run down the walls of the sink only. Remember: a good faucet is that whose reach is several inches into the sink!

THE TALE OF TWO SINKS

Nowadays, kitchens have two sinks. The primary purpose of double-bowl sinks is to make dishwashing easier: one bowl for soapy water, the other bowl with clean water for rinsing. When choosing a faucet for your kitchen sink, we suggest either the pull-out faucets, like the one linked above, or the ones with rotating spouts.
